Konoba Grego Levante

Split

Named after the wind the blows from the Greek coast towards to Adriatic, this new little konoba is located within the western walls of Diocletian’s palace, accessible from both the inner and outer walls from Rodrigina or Bosanska, respectively.

GregoLevante takes on a funky feel merging Dalmatian expressions printed on lime surfaces with old stonewalls and wooden bistro chairs. If you are more for the outdoors, grab a little spot along the wall so you can peek at city life passing by in the narrow alleys.

At Grego Levante you will find traditional Dalmatian fare but in the mix are ancient dishes rarely found in restaurant but so loved by the Splićani (the people of Split). A daily menu may include favourites such as kokoš na tingul, a spiced chicken stew in tomato sauce flavored with cloves and bay leaves, or gregada, a fish stew from Hvar. Grego Levante bakes their own breads and makes their own gnocchi. This eatery has scrapped the boring old pancakes that take up every other restaurant’s dessert selection and substituted with homemade cakes made by a family friend, such a chocolate chili cake.

Looking for a local bite in the center of town; let the winds take you to GregoLevante.
